Gandhi Biography ~
Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, India. His full name is Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi studied law and became a advocate for Indians in India & South Afria. He soon became a leader of India's independence movement. He organized boycotts against the British. His boycotts were in peaceful forms. He was a pioneer of Satyagraha and became one of the major political and spiritual leaders od his time. Gandhi is still known as one of the best philosophers in freedom stuggles in the world today.
In 1914, Gandhi went back to India and supported the Home Rule movement and because a leader fo the Indian National Congress. He was working towards his goal of helping poor farmers, laborers and to protest again taxation and descrimination. He wanted to liberate women and put an end to the descrimination due to the caste system. He was soon jailed for conspiracy and he marched to the sea to collect salt as a symbolic form of defiance to the government. He was released from prision in 1931 and went to the London Round Table Conference on Indian reform.
After independance was gained, he attempted to stop the Hindu-Muslim conflict that was goin' on in Bengal. This lead to his assasination in Delhi. He was assasinated by Nathuram Godse, a finatic. Even after his death Gandhi's philosophy towards non-violence and his belief became a beacon of hope and is still used today.

They work with the government and connect people by having them donate to also aid the elderly in India. They make society aware of the concerns that the age have and promote better understanding of issues. This allows the elderly to play an active role in society as well as providing aid.
